Dr. Schenck was recently selected as the co-recipient of the Sleep Research Society's Outstanding Scientific Achievement Award. The Sleep Research Society presents this award to individuals based upon novel and seminal discoveries of a basic, clinical or theoretical nature that have made a significant impact on the field. Dr. Schenck will be receiving this award for his work on REM Behavior Disorder and the discovery that it is almost always the earliest sign of Parkinson's disease which may take 10 or 20 years or more to become symptomatic.
