Due to increasing forms of bullying within the school system children and adolescents are faced with many struggles in peer interactions. Additionally, some children and adolescents have more difficulty learning how to interact with peers, leaving them feeling isolated. As a result, children and adolescents may experience a decrease in self-esteem which can lead to complete withdrawal from social settings, increased anxiety, and possible depression.
This group will help children and adolescents learn social skills and constructive tools to deal with the daily struggles they face in social interactions at school and elsewhere. Through the experience they will learn how to problem solve, interact appropriately with peers, and develop coping skills, which will assist them in developing stronger friendships and relationships.
The group is set to start in September 2009 and will be offered weekly. If you believe your child or adolescent would benefit from this type of group, please contact the intake specialists at Nystrom & Associates, Ltd. to schedule an intake appointment with Lisa Dee.
