Announcement

Patient Payment Assurance (PPA)

TO OUR PATIENTS:

We would like to notify you of a new service that simplifies the way you pay for your urgent care visit using a familiar retail payment process.  We will review your insurance benefit details and estimate your financial responsibility based on your insurance plan.  We will then swipe your credit, debit or HSA card and ask you to sign a receipt agreeing to pay up to the authorized amount.*

Only your co-pay will be charged today.  After we receive payment from your insurance company, and they have provided the exact amount you owe, we will then charge your card up to the authorized amount.

*Any patient financial responsibility above the authorized amount will be billed to you.

You can use the credit or debit card of your choice, however, we recommend using a credit card.  If you use a non-Visa debit card, there is a possibility that the amount we authorize today will show as a “held” amount for up to three days, depending on how your bank handles authorizations.

Here are the benefits of our new service:

-Use the credit or debit card of your choice

-Eliminate the confusion of multiple bills received after the visit

-Achieve peace of mind about the accuracy of the payment process

Thank you for your cooperation.  Please remember to bring your insurance card and payment card to your visit.

FAQs

PATIENT PAYMENT SOLUTION

“Why are you doing this?”

We’re taking advantage of recent technology to improve and streamline the billing process.

Secondary billing is a costly and inefficient process, and can be confusing to patients.  Sending statements is expensive.

We work continuously to efficiently manage our business costs and pass the savings along through competitive fees.

“You are the only place I have ever heard of to do this.”

Nystrom & Associates, Ltd.  is often a leader in efficiency programs.  There are other large medical groups in the area that are implementing a similar process soon, and many dental offices are already using such systems.

“I’m on a payment plan—how does this new system affect me?”

You may continue your payment plan for previous charges; however, charges for subsequent visits will be collected through our new payment system.

“When will my card be charged?”

No charges will be taken from your card until 2-3 weeks after your visit when the insurance company has processed your claim and calculated the actual amount due from the patient.

“Will you be swiping my payment card at every visit?”

Yes.  Each visit will have a separate authorization for estimated patient responsibility.

“What kind of Security do these transactions have?”

mPay Gateway is certified to meet the PCI (Payment Card Industry) standards and has a bi-annual audit to maintain that certification.

“Where does my payment card number stay?”

The data is secured in an off-site, secure data center that adheres to the PCI standards. Your number is encrypted as soon as it is sent to the data center; we cannot view your card number.
