Adolescent Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) Services Near Minneapolis/St. Paul and great Minnesota

Dialectical Behavior Therapy is an intensive outpatient mode of therapy geared toward adolescents that are suicidal, self-injurious, and/or are having extreme difficulties regulating their emotions. Our adolescent DBT program sticks closely to the model presented in the Miller, Rathus, and Linehan text "Dialectical Behavior Therapy With Suicidal Adolescents".

Generally the adolescents in our groups are between the ages of 13-18.

Adolescents begin with several individual therapy appointments to commit to the treatment. At least one of the adolescent's parents is required to attend the weekly skills training group with their teen. Parents must come in for a one time initial assessment and also participate in family therapy sessions throughout the treatment. The adolescent and their parent(s) attend a sixteen week skills training program. Weekly therapy is required during this sixteen week program. Clients and their families can then decide to continue weekly skills group or move into after-care with their individual therapists.
