More About Heather Hislop-Anderson
Clinical Interests:
I enjoy working with adolescents 12 and up with a history of trauma, anxiety, depression, children with problematic sexual behaviors, and behavioral concerns. I also work with adults, particularly those who have a history of trauma or are experiencing depression, anxiety, life transitions, grief and loss, and those whom may have a history of criminal activity or sexual issues.
Clinical Approach:
Working with the client and family, a collaborative approach to therapy is important. Depending on the needs of the client, trauma therapy may be necessary, which would then utilize EMDR (Eye movement desensitization reprocessing) or TF-CBT (trauma-focused cognitive behavioral therapy), which is a evidenced based approach for children under 18 with trauma. I am IFS (internal family systems) informed, and will incorporate this as well as other modalities such as cognitive behavioral therapy, and motivational interviewing to meet their needs and goals.
Hobbies:
Being outdoors is an opportunity for me to find grounding and peace, so you can often find me on walks, hiking, playing outdoors with my kids, or being on the lake. I also enjoy reading, watching football, traveling, and spending as much time with family as possible.
