Clinical Approach:
I believe that all human beings have intrinsic worth no matter what their life circumstances, that people know what they need, and that everyone has the tools within them to heal. I believe that addiction and destructive patterns in life are logical survival strategies to deal with trauma, helplessness, and lack of support and that people can live satisfying lives that surpass survival and include joy no matter what has happened in the past. I recognize that oppression around socioeconomic status, religion, race, gender identity, and sexual orientation plays an integral role in mental health and must be considered, discussed, and acknowledged to address any other concerns. As a counselor, I use tools from evidenced-based practices such as Cognitive/Dialectical Behavior Therapies (CBT/DBT), Motivational Interviewing, Narrative therapy. and Mindfulness. In all therapy goals, I accept the fact that clients are the experts on themselves. I strive to listen more than I talk, ask questions more than I give advice, and be transparent about my processes. I believe it is important to assist people in reducing harm and improving their lives without judgment in terms of the way they chose to live their life.
Hobbies:
Swimming, Gardening, Drawing, Hanging out with my dog.
