More About Katrina Bahen

Clinical Interests:

I enjoy working with children and adolescents and their families to overcome depression, anxiety, anger, parenting, and behavioral issues. I also enjoy working with all ages who need guidance through shame and guilt, conflict resolution, navigating transition, creating change, finding purpose, forming connections, and balancing life's demands. In addition, I like working with couples helping them develop communication skills, rekindle relationships, and implement fighting fair strategies.

My specialty is working with children and adolescents who are struggling with depression and/or anxiety. I am usually able to connect easily and quickly with young people taking time to build trusting relationships where they feel heard, safe, and valued.

Clinical Approach:

My clinical approach to counseling is Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. Our thoughts control our feelings and our feelings often dictate our behavior. Change your thoughts, change your life! I look at all issues through a biblical lens applying a biblical perspective to counseling. I believe while some temporary change is possible apart from God and his Word, Biblical change happens from the inside-out. Romans 12:2 tell us, "Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will." Renew your mind by changing the way you think while trusting the Holy Spirit will help you do this.

Hobbies:

I love spending time with my family which includes my husband, two children, and dog. We play board games, cards, bike, swim, hike, watch movies, and visit with each other sharing stories about the day or just taking the time to listen to one another. My hobbies include: walking my dog, exercising, reading my Bible and doing daily devotions, attending my kids' sporting events, drinking coffee, and watching the sunrise. Being outside and experiencing God's beautiful creation is also something I love to do along with laughing, shopping for good deals, and helping our kids with their homework. I am very active in our church leading small groups and book studies, helping out with Vacation Bible School, teaching Youth Discipleship Training, and participating on our church council.
