More About Lauren McNeil
Clinical Interests:
While much of my experience thus far has centered around adults and adolescents with serious and persistent mental health struggles, as well as those with co-occurring substance use disorders, I have knowledge of and experience with a wide variety of presenting concerns. These include struggles with anger and impulse control, anxiety disorders, mood disorders, trauma and stress related disorders, psychotic disorders, certain neurodevelopmental disorders, spirituality, and more. Additionally, as a queer and neurodivergent individual, I am passionate about supporting individuals in marginalized and underrepresented communities navigate the complexities of everyday life, heal from intergenerational and historical trauma, and create a thriving existence aligned with their personal values and goals.
Clinical Approach:
I believe each individual is the expert of their own life, should have a say in their journey of growth and healing, and deserve to feel safe, seen, and supported in the therapeutic space. As such, I take an integrative approach that prioritizes lived experience, personal knowledge and expertise, a collaborative therapeutic relationship, and empowerment, while working from a relational, flexible, and affirming framework. While I am often drawn to techniques from mindfulness-based approaches, such as ACT and DBT, I am knowledgeable in a variety of modalities (e.g., person-centered therapy, narrative therapy, CBT, etc.) and tailor my approach to each individual client.
Hobbies:
I enjoy spending time outside, visiting friends and family, playing and cuddling with my pets, reading, listening to music, and crafting!
