More About Lillian Kallestad
Clinical Interests:
Lillian (she/her) is a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker. She began at Nystrom & Associates in 2025, but has been in the social work field since 2019. Having experience working with clients in a wide variety of settings over the past several years, Lillian has had the opportunity to develop many skills and is able to bring these different perspectives to her practice. She has worked with a diverse population of clients and has experience helping both children and adults from many backgrounds create goals, learn new tools to address challenges they face, and build self-esteem by avoiding learned helplessness. Many of the clients Lillian has served have been experiencing depression, anxiety, attachment disruptions, and PTSD or other trauma-related responses.
Clinical Approach:
As a clinician, Lillian strives to partner with her clients and holds the belief that anyone is capable of making changes in their life. She uses a person-centered and strengths-based approach to make meaningful and genuine connections with her clients, incorporating elements of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, and motivational interviewing. Lillian believes that each person should be viewed holistically when determining what to prioritize in the work they will do together and understands that each person has a unique story to share.
Hobbies:
In her free time Lillian is an avid reader, particularly of mystery or historical fiction books. She enjoys traveling, spending time outside going hiking, and swimming. She loves watching all MN sports teams and cooking tasty treats to eat during the games. Most importantly, she consumes any and all things French and chooses to watch French TV shows and movies, listen to French music or podcasts, or read French books or articles whenever possible.
