More About Madison Liebe
Clinical Interests:
I am an outpatient therapist who works with individuals both in person and telehealth. Some common diagnoses I’ve worked with are anxiety, depression, trauma, grief and loss, life transitions, and identity exploration.
Clinical Approach:
My clinical style ranges from conversational with chatting to process what’s going on in life to more structured sessions with activities, worksheets, or questions to go in a specific direction or build a new skill. My approach changes session to session depending on what a person is looking to get out of therapy that day, so it’s important to me to have flexibility in our work together.
I’ve utilized resources and worksheets from DBT, CBT, and ACT approaches. I’m also drawn to narrative therapy to help understand the meaning behind the stories people choose to share and why that moment is important for them. If someone is interested, I’m drawn to more creative approaches like art or journaling, as there can be a lot of stuff that comes up with those perspectives that you don’t always get from talk therapy. It’s also important to use a strength-base approach as it can be easy to get stuck focusing on the problems, so it is helpful to notice what is also going well and what’s helped a person get this far in life.
Hobbies:
In my free time, I enjoy taking my Bernedoodle for a walk, going for a boat ride on the numerous lakes around the Alexandria area, reading a good book, and being creative through stained glass, photography, ceramics, and painting.
