More About Maria Payne
Clinical Interests:
I have experience working with adults dealing with co-occurring substance abuse and mental illness, and I found special interest in helping people cope with anxiety and panic disorders, PTSD, and psychosis. A passion for working with the LGBTQ+ community is something that I also continue to explore.
Clinical Approach:
I believe in a Person-Centered Care approach; meeting you at your own individual starting point and working with you to reach your own personal goals. I have training in Motivational Interviewing, and I use elements from CBT therapy, mindfulness, and grounding techniques to help implement coping skills, manage stress, and challenge destructive thinking. I think that every individual's challenges need to be met with their own solutions and enjoy creative problem solving.
Hobbies:
I have a love for all animals and relish any time I get to spend with them, especially going home for a snuggle with my own little cat. Traveling sparks an enthusiasm to learn about history and culture, and I hope to find some new place to explore soon! When I can't travel, I venture into new worlds via good books.
