More About Melissa Yunker
Clinical Interests:
I enjoy working with adolescents and adults. My clinical areas of interest include mood and anxiety disorders, grief and loss, significant life transitions, healthy communication, domestic violence survivors, child welfare, women's issues, self-esteem, shame resilience, and trauma.
Clinical Approach:
I take a person-centered, strengths based, and trauma informed approach, in order to help people work toward the changes that they would like to make in their lives. I am trained in, and incorporate elements of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Solution Focused Brief Therapy, and Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) into my work, meeting people where they are at, recognizing that they are experts on their own lives, and empowering them to utilize their insight, strengths, and skills to reach their goals.
Hobbies:
In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with family and friends, distance running, camping and hiking with my dogs, riding my horse, kayaking, and fishing.
