More About Nadina Singh

Clinical Interests:

We may be aligned if you are struggling with depression, anxiety, obsessive-compulsive disorder, trauma, relationship barriers, blended families, major life transitions, role conflict/strain, or grief and loss. I have a special interest in working with womxn ages 18-45 who want to reconnect with their identities, strength, and power.

Some identities of mine: I am a second-generation Guyanese-American immigrant. I was born and raised in the Midwest and sport our beloved Minnesota accent. I am familiar with acculturation/assimilation and have interest in working with those navigating bi/muliticultural factors, particularly filial piety.

Clinical Approach:

My therapeutic style in three words: empathetic, observant, non-directive.

I love similes and metaphors, so I will use one to describe my philosophy on therapy. Imagine a therapist like a travel guide. You know that you want change and to move somewhere other than where you are. As your guide, I come alongside you to brainstorm what we might pack for the trip: type of shoes, type of gear, water, snacks, a navigational device. We might discuss what scenery you’d like to explore. We may talk about the places you’ve already been, and what wisdom you’ve gathered from your experiences. We might map the terrain and anticipate roadblocks and barriers. My suggestions are just that–suggestions for how to interact with the change process and get to where you’d like to go. My tools and gear are the interventions I have learned throughout my education and careers. I have worked in targeted case management and ARMHS, both giving me a solid foundation in cognitive-behavioral therapy, solution-focused therapy, person-centered therapy, dialectical-behavior therapy, motivational interviewing, crisis planning, and suicide prevention. As a human, I believe our nervous systems are magnificently designed to get us through this life. I will honor your story and strength in the therapy space, and place trust in your body’s innate wisdom to guide us.

Hobbies:

My joys in life: long walks with my dogs, listening to spooky podcasts, playing games (bananagrams, cribbage, video games), going out to eat with my fiance, arranging flowers, taking nature pictures, reading, and thrifting.
