Clinical Interests:
I have worked for 40 years providing services to people with serious and persistent mental illness. I have worked primarily with people who live with schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, major depression, and chemical dependency. In addition, I have worked with people who have borderline personality disorder, anxiety disorder, and PTSD. I have worked in intensive residential treatments settings, inpatient mental health, adult day treatment and spent the last 18 years as the Team Leader for an Assertive Community Treatment (ACT) Team.
Clinical Approach:
I meet people where they are with compassion and try to gently help them grow and achieve their goals. My approach is person centered and my areas of specialty include all of the evidence based practices for people with serious and persistent mental illness. I have special training and experience in Assertive Community Treatment, Integrated Dual Disorders Treatment, Illness Management and Recovery, Supportive Employment, Family Psychoeducation, and Medication Management. I also have training in Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Motivational Interviewing.
Hobbies:
I enjoy doing all kinds of artwork. Lately I have been doing watercolors, but I also have done drawing, acrylic and oil painting, calligraphy, wheel thrown pottery, and printmaking. I like science and mathematics and even made my own computer. I have 4 cats. I like watching sports – especially the Minnesota Vikings.
