More About Tim Foster

Clinical Interests:

I am specialized in multiple modalities for trauma treatment for children, adolescents and adults. Modalities include Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), and Psychological First Aid (PFA). I also have significant experience working with severe and persistent mental illness, including depressive disorders, anxiety disorders, impulse control disorders, and anger management.

Clinical Approach:

I approach therapy openly and compassionately. It can be hard to allow ourselves to seek out support when it is necessary. It is my goal to guide each individual with the utmost respect and care. Although I approach most mental health disorders from a mindful cognitive-behavioral therapy perspective, I fully understand the importance of maintaining our own humanity within the therapeutic relationship. I believe being open about our life experience is not only beneficial for our quality of life, but is a critical component of it. I strive to provide a safe space where each client can better understand their own life experience and to allow themselves to purposely listen to their own needs. I believe therapy lies within the similarities we share through the process of being human. My hope is not only to help clients feel healthier, but to believe they are healthier.

Hobbies:

I am an active, but introverted person. The active part of me loves running, rollerblading, weightlifting and watching football with friends. I am also an avid Minnesota Vikings fan! The more reserved side of me enjoys watching movies, playing video games, and getting lost in an extensive fantasy novel. My wife and I both consider ourselves to be self-proclaimed movie/TV critics. We live with our 3 cats, Professor Dumbledore, Aragorn, and Robin Hood. We both enjoy calling Eau Claire home!
