Substance Use Disorder Treatment

If alcohol or drug use is impacting you and your loved one’s lives, we understand and are here to assist you on your journey to recovery. We provide a co-occurring treatment program that assists in addressing both substance use and mental health symptoms at the same time.

This consists of an integrated team of Licensed Alcohol & Drug Counselors, Peer Support Specialists, and Psychiatric Providers who work with patients individually and in a group setting. Patients will gain a solid understanding of the nature of the disease of addiction, learn healthy attitude, behavior, and lifestyle solutions. Patients will also build positive strategies and coping skills that lead to lasting change.

Our Addiction Treatment (Substance Use Disorder) programs are fully licensed by the Minnesota Department of Human Services (DHS).

Examples of symptoms leading to treatment:

  • Negative impact on relationships with family and friends
  • Poor performance at school or work
  • Legal system or Child Protective Services involvement
  • Physical health problems related to alcohol or drug use
  • Feelings of personal dissatisfaction with life
  • Difficulty functioning in one or more major life areas

What You Can Expect

We know the treatment process can seem overwhelming. That’s why our Licensed Alcohol & Drug Counselors (LADC) are your main touch point throughout our Addiction Treatment programs. They’ll guide you every step of the way.

  • A LADC completes a Substance Use Disorder Assessment to make a recommendation for the appropriate level of care.
  • Each patient entering treatment works with their counselor to create an individualized plan for areas of focus during treatment.
  • We utilize evidenced-based practices such as: Motivational Interviewing, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), 12 Step Facilitation, and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT).
  • Mental health education, group activities, interactive journaling, lectures, group discussions, and individual counseling sessions help patients achieve their personal goals.
  • A week long family program, where loved ones learn about substance use disorders and begin the healing process.
  • Easy access to all Nystrom & Associates services, view all our services here.
