More About Ana Dean Podratz

Clinical Interests:

I am a committed advocate for children and families under stress. I have extensive experience working with individuals dealing with disability/special medical and educational needs. I do well working with children who are coping with aspects of the Autism Spectrum Disorder, Anxiety, Depression, impulsivity and inattention due to ADHD, PTSD and learning disabilities. I have also had 15 years of experience working with foster children, foster parents and adoption in the state of Minnesota, and 11 years advocating for children and families in special education. I work with children from K to young adults and also have skills working with parents, caregivers, and extended family and siblings. I believe in a supportive network from home, to school, to other community resources who can work together to accomplish the best outcomes for children and families. I work 1:1 with the child, but open to bringing in parents when appropriate to support the skill development and therapeutic progress for their child.

I also have experience working with parent(s) of children between the ages of 6 and 17. who are seeking mental health support around their own coping and adjustment to parenting in an unprecedented time. Parents who are managing mental health, physical health/medical concerns for themselves or their child(ren), navigating school systems regarding meeting a child's special educational needs, managing parenting for various behavioral or mental health concerns that they may have for their child(ren). I have extensive experience in behavior modification and teaching coping strategies for depression and anxiety that often results in behavioral and relationship concerns at home, school or in the community.

Clinical Approach:

I use a variety of therapeutic approaches including Mindfulness Based, CBT and therapeutic play. My passion for advocacy, supportive relationships, and open communication results in a positive energy and motivation to be creative, to take on challenges and accomplish progress and success with my clients.
