More About Jennifer Kastner

Clinical Interests:

I love working with both children and adults, especially around parent/child relationships and conflicts across the lifespan. I have extensive experience in working with adoptive and foster families, as well as those who have experienced attachment disruption for a variety of reasons. I am trained in Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for working with children, and I enjoy working with their parents /caregivers to help them understand their children's behavior. Other areas of clinical interest include working with individuals experiencing anxiety, depression, PTSD, and identity issues, as well as adjusting to life transitions.

Clinical Approach:

One of my favorite things about being a therapist is working with a person who is "not sure if therapy is right for them." I use a person centered approach to help identify their goals, and what success will feel like for them. My style is collaborative and transparent as in "this is what we can do, and why we are doing it." I use a variety of clinical approaches such as narrative therapy, solution focused, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and trauma informed care. I take a strengths based view of individuals and families, to help them use those strengths in the areas of their life that they want to see change.

Hobbies:

In my free time, I love exploring northern Wisconsin, especially the south shore of Lake Superior. Favorites include hiking, kayaking, camping, or snow shoeing with friends. I also enjoy reading, knitting, spending time with my partner and teen at home, and catching up with my adult(ish) children.
