The Tobacco-Focused Cessation Group aims to provide support through the process of quitting smoking. The group is an evidenced-based treatment through SAMHSA. It offers a group setting for members to share concerns, gain support and develop self-awareness through self-disclosure and feedback. Throughout this group, individuals will gain education, coping skills, stress management, and healthy eating skills along with relapse prevention as it pertains to quitting smoking.
Advantages of participating in the group include:
• An opportunity to learn coping techniques from peers as well as discuss challenges each individual faces through their quitting process
• To have a supportive and safe environment while making personal changes in daily habits
• Establishing a “Quit Day” with other peers who are facing similar challenges at the same time and opportunities to learn from other’s experiences
