More About Anita Richardson

Clinical Interests:

Primarily, I have worked with single adults, and I am interested in working with families, youth, and couples as well. I have experience of working with clients who are struggling with their mental health and well-being. I will see clients who may have a range of concerns, and who may or may not have a formal diagnosis. I have knowledge and/or experience with anxiety disorders, depression, personality disorder, stress related disorders, schizophrenia, and substance use, and other concerns.

Clinical Approach:

Creating a safe space where you can be your most authentic self is something that I strive to provide. I enjoy collaborating with you and/or your family from a strengths-based, and person-centered approach, as I see you as being the expert of your story. Taking a step forward to seek therapy, or returning for a refresher, can be a moment of embracing the unknown, even if you sought counseling before. The process can feel different for each person, and you are not alone. I would like to be a support to you wherever you are on your journey as you discover, where you want to go from here. I like to incorporate in our time together, skills and techniques that brings a sense of calm and self-awareness that can help you stay in the moment. The therapeutic approaches I like to use are Psychoeducation, CBT, mindfulness, meditation, and use techniques from Gestalt therapy, and others as appropriate. More importantly, I am here for you, and we will work together with the best approaches that aligns with who you are.

Hobbies:

I enjoy writing, spending time with my family, catching up with friends, and getting out in the sun whenever possible. Most often you will find me singing a tune, dancing, or looking up new, fresh, and fun recipes to try that are simple. I enjoy being around cats or dogs and grew up with beautiful German Shepherds. Feel free to bring pictures of yours.
