Clinical Interests:
I have experience working with anxiety, depression, life transitions, grief and loss, self-esteem/self-worth issues, and relationship difficulties. I enjoy working with those 18 and older, particularly college students/young adults as well as couples.
Clinical Approach:
I think the deepest and most lasting change flows from a warm, compassionate, and honest relationship. I work hard to make sure those I partner with feel seen and understood as we actively work toward your goals.
In individual therapy I see my role as fellow-traveler, exploring with you what has gotten in the way of your goals and collaborating on how you might find your way and achieve them.
In couples therapy I view my role as process-consultant, helping you better understand the dynamics of your relationship that have left you feeling discouraged and disconnected, and then consulting with you on how to change these dynamics for the better.
My clinical work is heavily influenced by Emotionally Focused Therapy and Solution Focused Therapy.
Hobbies:
My ideal weekend would be hiking along the North Shore with my wife, watching and listening to the waves in Grand Marais, and sipping Java Moose coffee with one hand and a World’s Best maple bacon donut waiting in the other.
I also enjoy reading a good book, getting lost in a good video game, and developing my writing.
