More About Christa Damrow
Clinical Interests:
I have many clinical interests including:
Mental health of youth and families impacted by court systems (juvenile justice/child protection)
Individuals that have experienced sexual exploitation, gang involvement, or other types of traumatic bonding
Individuals that are uncertain if they are ready to change
Depression, trauma, anxiety, identity, and self destructive behaviors
Clinical Approach:
I have a foundation in DBT (Dialectic Behavioral Therapy). I believe in it’s dialectic assumptions such as “people are doing the best they can” and “need to do better, try harder, and be more motivated to change”. I have training in several other approaches including sensorimotor psychotherapy where the focus goes beyond “talk therapy” to interrupt unconscious patterns of responding or approaching situations. My approach varies with each individual because therapy is a collaborative process where client and therapist are equals.
Hobbies:
I enjoy yoga, fitness, building/fixing things, martial arts, upcycling, spending time with friends/family, animals, science and anything STAR WARS related.
