More About Emilie Erickson

Clinical Interests:

My clinical interests include working with adults with a variety of mental health challenges including anxiety disorders, mood disorders, trauma, attachment concerns, and exploration of personal identity. I have had experience in the treatment of individuals who have experienced traumatic events and trauma throughout their lifetime, with an emphasis on women and domestic violence. Yoga, yoga philosophy, and somatic work are passions that I continue to learn about personally and as a practitioner.

Clinical Approach:

I take an approach that looks at the intersection of how society, relationships, and our bodies can both influence how we move through the world as well as how they are impacted by our mental health. I take an approach that emphasizes feminist and cultural theories that take into consideration how each individuals lived experiences are influenced by the society in which we live. I bring in a psychodynamic and attachment-based approach that emphasizes the importance of the therapeutic relationship and helps individuals discover how their past has influenced their mental health concerns. With insight from these theories along with somatic work, polyvagal work, and some behavioral skills, I hope to help others heal, live more fully, and move authentically through the world.

Hobbies:

When I am not at work, I spend my free time hanging out with my daughter as we read books, care for our plants, and be silly! I find enjoyment and fulfillment being outdoors, practicing yoga, and challenging myself at the gym.
