More About Erica Petry

Clinical Interests:

My passion as a therapist is to help my clients uncover and utilize their internal personal strengths and help to move them towards their personal goals. My clients are ages 18 through older adults with a wide variety of concerns including trauma, depression, anxiety, life transitions, problems with substance use, and concentration problems. As an artist myself with training in art therapy, I love to incorporate creativity or art into the therapeutic process to promote even further growth. I have extensive training and experience working with clients and family members who struggle with problematic substance use.

Clinical Approach:

My theoretical model is strengths-based with roots in Adlerian psychology, which means that I use a holistic view to help my clients set healthier goals and develop insight that leads to growth. My clinical approach is person-centered/ Rogerian and I view my clients as the experts in their own lives, and view my role as a guide to help my clients discover their own solutions. I use Motivational Interviewing to help clients navigate the different stages of making meaningful change, and implement CBT and DBT skills to sustain change.

Hobbies:

I am a lifelong Wisconsinite, but my significant other and I recently moved to the Hudson area from Southern Wisconsin to be closer to family. We have two adorable and energetic Australian Shepherds that bring us joy. In my free time, I enjoy crafting with my mom, spending time with nieces and nephews, fishing, riding my bicycle, and spending summers exploring beautiful Wisconsin as a passenger on the motorcycle.
