Clinical Interests:
Trauma informed care, (specifically trauma and resilience,) various types of depression, various types of anxiety, mindfulness, breathing and relaxation exercises, stress management and coping skills, Adlerian techniques such as Lifestyle Assessment and Early Recollections, mistaken beliefs, Adlerian Life Tasks, cognitive/thought distortions, 4 Priorities.
Clinical Approach:
I approach therapy from an Adlerian lens; I see all human beings as wanting to attain the three universal goals of belonging, significance and a sense of safety/security. In Adlerian terms, our mistaken beliefs can interfere with us feeling that we have met those three universal human goals. Through therapy, we work to identify any mistaken beliefs and see how they may be impacting various life tasks or areas of functioning. I see mistaken beliefs as being similar to, in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, thought/cognitive distortions. I truly believe that the client is the expert on their own life and that the therapist organizes the process of therapy. It is an honor, as a therapist, to accompany a client on their journey of discovery and creating the changes that they want in their life.
Hobbies:
Yoga, singing, reading, watching movies, walking the dog, different types of exercise and travel.
