More About Heather Lucas
Clinical Interests:
My primary clinical interests include working with adults struggling with anxiety, worry, depression, trauma, interpersonal conflict, adjustment/life transitions, self-esteem, caregiver stress, aging/geriatric concerns, and health-related concerns (health behavior change, sleep, stress, coping with a new diagnosis, coping with a chronic medical condition, infertility, pregnancy/postpartum, coping with memory changes, chronic pain). I also have a special interest in working with couples experiencing relational stressors. Furthermore, I enjoy conducting psychological evaluations with individuals 6 and up.
Clinical Approach:
I approach my work with clients through creating a therapeutic space that is collaborative, participatory, and educational. My goal is to help empower clients to actively make changes that lead to a fulfilling and well-balanced lifestyle. My approach is rooted in a cognitive-behavioral theoretical orientation within a social-ecological framework, and I utilize interventions that research has shown to be effective for creating change and healing.
Hobbies:
In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, exploring the outdoors, traveling, reading, and trying new restaurants.
