More About Jacey Tupa
Clinical Interests:
My work has primarily been with individuals and couples typically aged 21-55. I am willing to see any partner format and collaborate with any commitment level, from those seeking to iron out issues with communication to those contemplating divorce or if marriage is right for them. While I do not have formal training in trauma or PTSD, many previous clients have had trauma and/or abuse and neglect in their background. I have provided therapy to other training therapists. Previous clients of mine have come from diverse cultural backgrounds and I am competent to see multi-cultural couples. I seek unique interventions when necessary, including sand tray.
Clinical Approach:
Therapy isn’t just about working through struggles, it’s about feeling truly seen. In the therapy room, I strive to create a space where clients feel heard, validated, and empowered to rewrite their stories. With a humanistic, solution-focused, and narrative approach (with a healthy dose of decolonization!), I integrate cultural attunement into every part of the therapeutic process. I recognize that each person’s lived experience – shaped by race, gender, sexuality, religion, socio-economic background, and more – impacts their healing journey.
My goal is to meet clients where they are with warmth, genuine curiosity, and deep respect. I am sensitive to client’s needs having been on my own therapy journey before…I know how scary it can be! Whether it’s your first time or you have been to therapy before, I enjoy collaborating with you to create the best mode of treatment possible for where you are at. I am the professional, but you are the expert in your life and I allow the agency of that power to come through in our interactions. Diving deep into attachment, origin interactions, patterns, and stories you tell yourself will be part of the process, but on a timeline we establish together. I provide gentle nudges when I think you can be challenged, slow down when necessary, and provide humor and my own humanness to show up when appropriate. Our relationship is one of the most impactful parts of this process, I encourage you to use it as a tool of change and invite you to be honest and vulnerable when trust is built and am honored to be a witness to your transformation that will take place!
Hobbies:
True to being a narrative therapist, I enjoy story-telling and love reading and watching tv shows or movies in my time off. I happily support local bookstores and public libraries. I take pride in being the “cool” aunt to my three nieces and nephew. Nature is neat and I go out and bask in the wilderness when possible with walks and hikes near our beautiful lakes.
