More About Jennifer Linnell

Clinical Interests:

I primarily work with adults of all ages for individual, couples, and family sessions. I have knowledge and experience working with those who are experiencing internal conflict/self-esteem, relationship challenges, establishing and communicating healthy boundaries, processing grief, reconnecting with self by understanding body signals/regulation, identifying needs, and advocating for self. I have experience working with symptoms negatively impacting well-being and quality of life by promoting positive feelings, thoughts, and emotions.

Clinical Approach:

My goal as a counselor is to help build a safe therapeutic relationship built on trust, allowing for vulnerability to process thoughts, feelings, and emotions. By understanding how the nervous system impacts regulation, we will use tools from Polyvagal Theory and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to challenge and reframe thoughts. I refer to John Gottman’s methods on relationships and Henry Cloud’s guidance on healthy boundaries. I strive to provide clients with the tools needed using psychoeducation so they can leave with lifelong skills. In sessions, I focus on encouragement and support, meeting individuals where they’re at, providing acceptance for the human experiences.

Hobbies:

I love outdoor activities such as hiking, kayaking, gardening, and adventuring, admiring nature’s beauty, bringing a sense of peace in a chaotic world. I enjoy my time indoors, crafting, creating, reading/learning, often watching the birds, squirrels, foxes, plants, and flowers bloom, with the view of the river all year round. I am dedicated to my Christian faith, reading, writing, praying, listening to Christian music, and attending bible study and services weekly. I find my family and friends to be a significant part of my support system.
