More About Kiana Johnson

Clinical Interests:

My clinical interests lie in serving vulnerable adults and individuals often overlooked by society. With a background in psychology and extensive experience in human services, I specialize in empowering clients facing mental health challenges, addiction, and co-occurring disorders. My holistic approach encompasses sociological, biological, and psychological factors, aiming to equip individuals with skills for independent living. I address the complex and multifaceted needs of clients experiencing depression, anxiety, and trauma-related symptoms. I will soon specialize in perinatal psychology, supporting individuals and families during the perinatal period, encompassing pregnancy, childbirth, and the postpartum period.

Clinical Approach:

My clinical approach incorperates Person-centered therapy, which forms the foundation of my approach, emphasizing empathy, unconditional positive regard, and genuineness.
Incorporating elements of solution-focused therapy, I guide clients in identifying their strengths, resources, and goals. I collaborate with them to develop practical, achievable solutions and action plans to address their challenges. CBT principles assist my approach by addressing the connection between thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. I help clients identify and challenge unhelpful thought patterns and beliefs, develop more adaptive ways of thinking, and learn effective coping strategies.

Hobbies:

I enjoy reading, singing, taking long walks and being in nature.
