More About Leita Richardson
Clinical Interests:
- Primarily individual mental health services
- Trauma-Informed care, interested in further classes and training (EMDR, brain-spotting, etc.)
- Theoretical orientation: person-centered therapy with heavy use of somatic therapy
- Experience in variety of ages of clientele, but works best and most confidently with adults and teens due to psychoeducational approach
Clinical Approach:
Person-centered orientation, and applying techniques based on client needs such as somatic approach (emotional and bodily awareness, bottom-up processing, etc.) as well as trauma-focused. If presenting symptoms correlate with likelihood of traumas, approach would involve trauma-informed care, building regulation skills and awareness skills with use of DBT approach, as well as appropriate (timely and after rapport-building) processing within session. If desired by client and appropriately needed, resources such as workbooks, bibliotherapy, and videos to assist in grounding techniques.
Hobbies:
Personally interested in spending time with family and friends, and pet cat at home. More of a homebody and enjoys baking and playing video games. Enjoys time outside and creative activities such as creative writing, painting and ink-based drawing/sketching.
