More About Louann (Luna) Wright
Clinical Interests:
My clinical interests are rooted in providing person-centered care to individuals and families impacted by substance use and mental health challenges, with a specialized focus on perinatal women and couples. Over the past five years, I’ve worked in both social work and administrative roles supporting perinatal mothers—work that has shaped my understanding of the unique needs of this population and deepened my commitment to holistic, relationship-based care.
I’m passionate about using evidence-based approaches like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) to support emotional regulation, build coping skills, and foster long-term recovery. I enjoy integrating these modalities into community-based settings where I can teach practical tools while developing meaningful therapeutic relationships. My approach is grounded in cultural humility, trauma-informed care, and the belief that every person holds strengths that can be nurtured through the healing process.
Much of my experience has centered on supporting BIPOC community members across government, nonprofit, and private sectors. I value the opportunity to work within diverse systems and am committed to advocating for equitable access to care. As I continue to grow as a provider, I hope to keep learning, deepening my clinical skills, and bringing new tools and insights to the individuals and families I serve.
Clinical Approach:
My clinical approach is grounded in person-centered, trauma-informed care that honors the unique experiences, strengths, and cultural backgrounds of each individual and family I work with. I believe in creating a collaborative and nonjudgmental space where clients feel safe to explore their challenges, build insight, and move toward healing at their own pace.
I draw primarily from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), integrating practical skill-building with emotional processing to support clients in developing healthier coping strategies, improving communication, and strengthening relationships. These tools are especially impactful when working with perinatal individuals and couples navigating recovery, identity shifts, and parenting.
Relationship is central to my work—I prioritize building strong therapeutic alliances based on trust, respect, and cultural humility. My approach is deeply informed by my experience in community-based work across government, nonprofit, and private sectors, particularly in supporting BIPOC individuals and families. I aim to empower clients by helping them recognize their inherent strengths and by meeting them where they are, both emotionally and within their life circumstances.
Whether I’m working with someone during pregnancy, early parenthood, or in their recovery journey, I strive to provide care that is not only clinically effective but also human, compassionate, and deeply connected to the community.
Hobbies:
Outside of my clinical work, I find joy and balance through photography, travel, and reading. Traveling allows me to immerse myself in different cultures, broaden my perspective, and create lasting memories—often captured through my camera lens. Photography helps me slow down, notice the beauty in everyday moments, and stay grounded in the present.
I’m also an avid reader, and I typically read over 100 books a year. Whether it’s fiction, memoir, or professional development, reading is my way of continually learning and connecting with the world through stories. These passions fuel my creativity, empathy, and curiosity—qualities I bring into both my personal life and professional practice.
