More About Nikolas Leaf
Clinical Interests:
I have a strong interest in working with couples and individuals alike. I have experience working with anxiety, depression, PTSD, adjustment disorders, and schizoaffective disorder. I also have previous experience working in groups and I currently see clients for both in-home and in-office sessions. I work with a variety of demographics, and it’s important to me to be someone that anyone would feel comfortable seeing. I have experience working on sexual, relational, familial, social, and trauma concerns with clients.
Clinical Approach:
I have a strong focus on relationships and their dynamics. I also have a strong belief in the power of the individual, as well as the therapeutic alliance between the client and provider. Empowerment is key! I incorporate ideas and skills for managing symptoms from a variety of approaches, including CBT, DBT, person-centered, reality/choice, existential, and Adlerian theory. I believe that all aspects of our lives are interconnected. I’m very comfortable talking about just about anything. Maintaining a nonjudgmental perspective is very important to me, and this has allowed me to maintain what I hope is comfortable environment for clients to address things at their own pace and without reservation.
Hobbies:
I’m a big gamer! I love video games and table-top games (One-Night Werewolf and old-school YuGiOh are some favorites for me!). I also love to write, read, go to concerts, and explore what life has to offer while entertaining my creative side. My hobbies are big part of my life that I also hope to be engaging with more. If you want to have an easy first session, come in and talk movies or games with me for a bit!
