More About Octavia Brown

Clinical Interests:

I have experience working with multiple age groups, but have a special interest in working with kids, at-risk youth and middle-aged adults. I also have experience working with a wide variety of mental health diagnoses and concerns. My clinical interests include; depression, self-esteem/identity, anxiety, autism, trauma, racial trauma, adjustment disorder, sexual orientation and gender identity concerns, behavioral concerns, anger issues, conflict resolution, relational concerns, substance use, and family therapy.

I enjoy working with all clients, but I am especially invested in working with clients of color and members of the LGBTQIA+ community.

Clinical Approach:

I approach each client as their own unique person with their own story and gifts. I show up authentically and will walk alongside you in your journey towards healing. I take a trauma-informed approach to my practice. I use person-centered techniques, motivational interviewing strategies, CBT approaches, art, DBT skills, and incorporate some psychodynamic tenants as well. I believe therapy should not be a daunting experience and I strive to make it worth your while. With change comes work, but why can’t there be some fun thrown in there along the way? I offer a safe and supportive environment for you to become the best version of yourself.

Hobbies:

I love tending to my plant babies, spending time with friends and family, spending time outdoors, playing sports/working out, listening to music, cooking/baking, doing artwork and listening to podcasts.
