More About Sandra (Sandy) Walsh

Clinical Interests:

I have experience working with all ages and abilities in a variety of mental health settings since 2001. My clinical interest includes but is not limited to: mood disorders; trauma; relational issues; and the unexpected life events. I enjoy working with individuals, couples, and families. I have a heart for trauma work and am certified in EMDR an evidence-based practice for trauma. I am also certified in MAP (Managing and Adapting Practice) an evidence-based practice for 0-21. I have additional specialized training in working with individuals, couples and families that have experienced infant loss.

Clinical Approach:

My approach to therapy is client centered. I meet the client(s) where they are with a goal to create a plan to move them towards healthy functioning through a historic and relational lens. I integrate person centered; narrative, systemic and solution focused with a nod to Bowen’s family systems approach. While those influence my lens, I utilize the evidence-based practice that is appropriate. In working with you, we will “Learn from the past, live in the present, and approach the future with goals and planning.” We are all works in progress if we choose to be.

Hobbies:

I enjoy family time; being outdoors; learning new things; reading; writing; photography; gardening; and music across time and genre. I might be caught singing something if the moment calls for it. Life can be hard, but your perspective and the people you surround yourself with make all the difference.
