More About Shelly Kang
Clinical Interests:
Shelly has a passion for serving autistic and other neurodiverse clients and their families with affirming, trauma-aware care inclusive of LGBTQIA and other marginalized identities. She has experience meeting children, teens, and adults on their developmental paths towards self-identity, and acceptance. She helps clients build skills they want for improved communication, interpersonal connection, emotional regulation, and coping with minority stress while advocating for more supportive environments. She has deep understanding of caregiver relationships around disability and helping to resolve power dynamics with autonomy and support needs, including the PDA autism profile.
Clinical Approach:
Shelly works from a developmentally focused, person-centered approach with curiosity towards each client’s lived experience. She is familiar with DBT skills and protocols, with experience modifying practices to fit a variety of nervous systems and learning styles.
Hobbies:
Shelly spends her free time cooking and eating meals with her family, swimming, gardening, practicing fiber arts, and listening to audiobooks.
