More About Philip Zastrow

Clinical Interests:

My clinical interests include a lot of different diagnoses and age groups, but I like to focus on the adult population, specifically working with underlying issues that manifest themselves as mental health symptoms. I have experience with working with children and adolescents with autism spectrum disorder as well as the general geriatric population with an emphasis on dementia, Alzheimer’s and end of life issues including grief and loss.

Clinical Approach:

My clinical approach is based off of 4 main ideas: 1) The client has the ability, choice, and power to change. 2) Treatment should be individual, since each client’s process of change is individual. 3) Client issues are always approached with empathy and understanding. 4) Telling the truth to one’s self is a foundational step for change.

Hobbies:

My personal interests and hobbies include reading a wide variety of topics, cooking and grilling, spending time with my daughter, hanging out with friends and enjoying a good micro/craft brew beer.
