More About Tanya Kessen

Clinical Interests:

I have experience in treating adolescents, adults and families. My previous work experience includes the treatment of depression, anxiety, post-traumatic stress, behavioral issues, family conflict, attachment issues, substance use, and emotional dysregulation. I enjoy working with people from diverse backgrounds and strive to create a safe, comfortable and culturally sensitive environment for all of my clients. I am delighted to join my clients on their journey to self-discovery and wellness.

Clinical Approach:

I believe that people are resilient by nature and I approach clients in a practical, strengths-based and solution-focused way. I value the uniqueness of each person and situation, and I work collaboratively to develop personalized goals in therapy. I am proficient with cognitive behavioral therapy, systematic desensitization, family systems, Gestalt principles, and person-centered therapy. I utilize several elements of dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) and motivational interviewing in my practice. I am also experienced with crisis intervention, psychological first aid, and intimate partner violence.

Hobbies:

I enjoy reading, writing, hiking, traveling, and spending time with my family.
